Holy Saturday- Hell could not hold him!

While grief accompanies his companions

life stirs the broken body,

still entombed, and

having given all on that cross,

he embraces the darkness,

he enters hell,

where all held captive

are suddenly in the presence of love,

as light breaks into their suffering,

the groans that have been their food,

are turned to silence disbelief,

then the cries start,

hosanna, hosanna,

save us, save us,

come he says,

and turning to toward the broken gates,

he repeats the invitation …

come, come follow me!

+

They didn’t need asking again,

and the strange procession

followed,

chains broken,

hearts set free,

life has returned…

+

Death has no more sting

love has overcome,

life’s invitation is extended…

+

Slowly that truth will dawn,

on many it is still dawning…

About Sally C

How do I describe myself, I am not what I do, (I am a Methodist Minister), I am not who I am related to (I have 5 wonderful children, 2 lovely granddaughters and 2 lovely grandsons). I am a seeker truth, a partaker of life in all it's fullness and a follower, sometimes stumbling, sometimes celebrating of the Christian pathway. I seek wholeness, joy and a connectedness to all things through a deep reconciliation with the God whose love blows my socks off! I love walking, swimming and photography, I dabble with paint and poetry...
