Lent Day Day 35- Downcast; I need Lent to be longer…

What do I write today,

the heavy sky reflects my mood,

yet the earth is full of wonders,

from my window I watch two egrets flying,

their bright white plumage almost iridescent

against the greys, light has many colours….

how can I be filled with wonder,

yet down cast?

Maybe I should echo the psalmists question,

why are you downcast my soul, why do you quake within me?

Then put your hope in God…

But my hope is in God,

and I am downcast,

the smiling image on my Facebook profile hides the truth within…

I am not ready for Easter yet,

and though there is still a journey to be taken,

I want to go back, to feel those ashes on my forehead afresh,

to encounter my vulnerable humanity,

dark night of the soul,

filled with doubts and questions,

surely there are treasures in the darkness here..

I need Lent to be longer…

my alleluias need time to form afresh…

dark night of the soul,

filled with doubts and questions,

surely there are treasures in the darkness here….

About Sally C

How do I describe myself, I am not what I do, (I am a Methodist Minister), I am not who I am related to (I have 5 wonderful children, 2 lovely granddaughters and a grandson). I am a seeker truth, a partaker of life in all it's fullness and a follower, sometimes stumbling, sometimes celebrating of the Christian pathway. I seek wholeness, joy and a connectedness to all things through a deep reconciliation with the God whose love blows my socks off!
