Lent 21- be quiet… ( pondering the reactions to Nazanin Zeghari Ratcliffe)

Tell your followers to be quiet,

stop making a fuss,

what are you thinking,

this will end in tears you know,

and it did,

as he rode on palm strewn pathways,

heralded by those who had found their voices…

how quickly they turned!

+

be grateful,

how dare you disagree with your husband,

surely you should just have got on quietly,

how dare you speak out,

call out injustice,

this will end in tears,

will it?

Should it?

It will if we don’t listen

to the dignified anger

articulately expressed…

+

he rode that path,

if they keep quiet the stones will cry out he said,

and while there were tears, and fears,

there was also joy,

death overcome,

life, new life for all…

+

this is the life she wants,

she speaks for,

full life, for all,

and maybe there will be tears,

anger,

frustrations…

but one day justice will overcome,

and we like her,

should not stay silent!

About Sally C

How do I describe myself, I am not what I do, (I am a Methodist Minister), I am not who I am related to (I have 5 wonderful children, 2 lovely granddaughters and 2 lovely grandsons). I am a seeker truth, a partaker of life in all it's fullness and a follower, sometimes stumbling, sometimes celebrating of the Christian pathway. I seek wholeness, joy and a connectedness to all things through a deep reconciliation with the God whose love blows my socks off! I love walking, swimming and photography, I dabble with paint and poetry...
