Why do we need to provide sanctuary?

Have you not heard,

Have you not seen,

there’s a war raging,

no there are wars raging/

who asks for a visa before fleeing a tyrant?

who sorts out papers before running from destruction?

who packs things neatly, when terrified?

Surely we should be able to offer an open door,

a welcome,

cpmpassion,

care….

Why do we need to provide sanctuary?

Pause and think,

what if you needed sanctuary,

if you were afraid for your life,

if you had no home any longer,

if all you knew lay in ruin?

Why do we need to provide sanctuary?

Because we are human,

we are all human….
