Lent Day 7: in the desert ( reflecting on mental health)

it’s okay to be vulnerable

in the desert,

to be thirsty for life…

to feel

stripped back,

exposed,

naked even when clothed

+

it’s okay not to have the words,

it’s okay just to be and breathe,

it’s okay to be empty,

it’s okay to rest….

+

it’s okay to say the desert was not your choice

of abode,

and is a strange hiding place,

shelter is scarce

in the desert…

+

it’s okay to say you’re not okay

in the desert,

to stamp, to scream, to weep

to mourn, to sigh….

+

maybe the very fact that

you are surviving here in the desert

is an indication of strength,

but don’t try to be strong,

just be…

I love walking, swimming and photography, I dabble with paint and poetry...
