Weary

Dear God,

I am weary,

weary in heart mind and soul,

weary in body,

I don’t want to get out of bed weary,

please don’t ask me to be creative weary,

I don’t know what to do,

which way to turn weary,

I feel I have no constructive thoughts weary,

and the thoughts I have say simply, I am weary…

I am weary, did I mention that…

I am stop the world I want to get off weary…

yet the demands keep coming…

Maybe I should just stop….

stop,

rest,

be…

“Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” Matthew 11: 28-30

About Sally C

How do I describe myself, I am not what I do, (I am a Methodist Minister), I am not who I am related to (I have 5 wonderful children, 2 lovely granddaughters and a grandson). I am a seeker truth, a partaker of life in all it's fullness and a follower, sometimes stumbling, sometimes celebrating of the Christian pathway. I seek wholeness, joy and a connectedness to all things through a deep reconciliation with the God whose love blows my socks off!

What translation of Matthew is this from, Sally? It is lovely. And I needn’t even say(although I will) I love your poetry and musings. I think we all feel heart-sore and fatigued, but probably rarely as much as the poor souls who are entrusted with the “cure of souls” such as yourself. How easy it is to carry the burden of all those who lean on you too, until you fall… Praying for you, xxx
