Songs from the edge of exile: 5

( a revisit)

We have been faithful…

+

We want things

how they’ve always been,

traditional worship,

hymns we know…

+

We want people who come

to understand

why our chairs and brasses,

are precious to us,

to realise why

we always say the

traditional version of the Lord’s prayer…

+

We want the collection taken

during the penultimate verse of

the third hymn

it’s traditional!

+

And although we welcomed

the purchase of

the screen and projector,

we don’t really want it used everyweek,

and please don’t show us video’s…

+

We want young families

to come,

but we’re not keen on

hearing children playing

(even quietly).

+

We want our congregation to grow

and don’t really understand

why it is shrinking.

+

We want, what we want,

because we don’t know how

to contemplate

anything else…

+

We want what we had,

because it was good…

About Sally C

How do I describe myself, I am not what I do, (I am a Methodist Minister), I am not who I am related to (I have 5 wonderful children, 2 lovely granddaughters and 2 lovely grandsons). I am a seeker truth, a partaker of life in all it's fullness and a follower, sometimes stumbling, sometimes celebrating of the Christian pathway. I seek wholeness, joy and a connectedness to all things through a deep reconciliation with the God whose love blows my socks off! I love walking, swimming and photography, I dabble with paint and poetry...
