Dear Christmas

Christmas is approaching,

what are your plans…?

How many times have you answered this question

in this season of outlandish expectations…?

We choose the menu, trim the tree,

wrap the gifts, preparations are underway.

if I did things differently this time?

Would you mind if I chose a quieter

settles gently in my heart,

and sooths my soul

with a deeper understanding,

bringing healing

to the fragmented places?

+

Would you mind me

simply lighting a candle in the dark,

and letting a softer light

rekindle a flame deep within…?

+

For I am a bruised reed,

a smouldering wick,

needing to do December differently…

+

Dear Christmas, I hope

that you understand…

I love walking, swimming and photography, I dabble with paint and poetry...
