etched in my mind today,
the face of a young,
smiling, exuberant Jesus,
offering me a gift,
and I missed him,
for until he had passed I did not see,
I should have knelt at his feet, accepted his grace,
his gift,
a chocolate chip cookie
to be broken on that hillside,
and I missed it….
his face fills my memory,
and he is still smiling,
still full of life and grace,
a grace that is gracious enough
to bless the recognised missing,
still overflowing with goodness,
a goodness that calls me good,
Lord I was blind, yet I am blessed,
help me to see,
help me not to miss you again!
