Loving God as we stand at the threshold of this house, this home, this place of work, of love of life we say:

Jesus the door, may our hearts be open to your blessing.

We pray that this might be a place of blessing for all who dwell here.

We pray that this might be a place of blessing for all who visit here.

May it be a place where love dwells, where peace reign, and joy is found even it times of darkness and sorrow.

Peace from each corner of this house, this home.

May it be a place of hope, blessed to be a blessing to others.

We pray in the name of Christ whose love was made plain.

AMEN

(Continue into the home blessing as appropriate, you may wish to anoint the doorways, water is best as it does not leave a mark, as you enter the home pray)

Peace be upon every window and door.

Peace be upon every room.

May the living areas be places of friendship, companionship, creativity and relaxation.

Peace be upon every room

May the kitchen and dining areas places of sharing and nourishment for body, soul and spirit.

Peace be upon every room

May the bedrooms’ places of rest.

Peace be upon every room

Peace from each corner of this house, this home.

May it be a place of hope, blessed to be a blessing to others.

We pray in the name of Christ whose love was made plain.

AMEN

(Moving to the study/ work areas);

Peace be upon every room

Loving God this room is dedicated to work, to creativity, to study, may it be a place where wisdom dwells, where peace is tangible, and love is found.

Peace be upon this room

Peace be upon every room.

Peace from each corner of this house, this home.

May it be a place of hope, blessed to be a blessing to others.

We pray in the name of Christ whose love was made plain.

AMEN

(Garden)

We pray a blessing upon the surroundings of this house, upon those who will relax and play here, may it be a reminder of your creative Spirit at work.

Peace from each corner of this house, this home.

May it be a place of hope, blessed to be a blessing to others.

We pray in the name of Christ whose love was made plain.

AMEN

(You may wish to finish by praying the Lord’s prayer together)

About Sally C

How do I describe myself, I am not what I do, (I am a Methodist Minister), I am not who I am related to (I have 5 wonderful children, 2 lovely granddaughters and 2 lovely grandsons). I am a seeker truth, a partaker of life in all it's fullness and a follower, sometimes stumbling, sometimes celebrating of the Christian pathway. I seek wholeness, joy and a connectedness to all things through a deep reconciliation with the God whose love blows my socks off! I love walking, swimming and photography, I dabble with paint and poetry...

I guess prayer for/in the study needs to happen pretty soon after moving in? Mine is so untidy I don’t think well-wishers could get in… But it’s a good idea. I like the occasional opportunity of leading house-blessings, but never thought to have one for my own abode!
