out in the desert

the wind roars

and moans,

whispering temptations,

weaving scenarios,

subtle lies

as a web to trap me…..

terror lurks

but wait…

under and over it

a purer note sounds,

a melody of hope

of healing,

of future possibilities

sings an invitation

sweet to my ears, and

so I lift my voice

to join that song

whose essence

is life

and though the wind rages

its power is lost

and I am held

and wrapped in peace

even in the desert…
