we came
to the table,
the hurting, the lame,
blind, raw, and broken,
we came,
the whole and the hearty, the
widowed,
the orphaned,
estranged,
grappling with
diffculties,
struggling with change
we came,
in our grief
and confusion
we came,
at peace at ease,
with aching dis-ease
some settled, some sinking
we came,
we came, we
listened,
laughed, prayed and talked,
found in one another
the embodied invitation
of broken bread,
of poured out wine,
and in the given-ness
and the sharing,
through the touch
and the acceptance
we found that
in the midst of us
he was there,
showing us his wounded hands
and pierced side,
placed into our hands we received him,
and we entered life, a little fuller,
and drew a little deeper
into the wholeness
of his risen life,
we are his body, as his
broken body
we came,
as his chosen ones,
as his anointed ones,
as his risen ones
he sent us forth….
