into the dryness
and the dullness of our days
he comes,
entering softly into the
places where
our hearts have
greyed for want of
his colour and light,
seeking out
the hidden places
where we hide from ourselves,
from the lies we tell and are told,
the lies
that we are unworthy,
unwanted,
unforgivable,
tainted,
he comes, calling our name,
your name, my name,
calling and drawing,
scattering light, pointing to life,
tapping his feet
to heavens deepest melodies
he comes, and held in his hand
is a cup of new wine,
not to dull , deceive ,
nor to
anesthetise our senses, but
overflowing with healing and health,
come drink, come dance,
come enter in,
here is life
overflowing, everlasting
ever full…
The Word was first,
the Word present to God,
God present to the Word.
The Word was God,
in readiness for God from day one.
Everything was created through him;
nothing—not one thing!—
came into being without him.
What came into existence was Life,
and the Life was Light to live by.
The Life-Light blazed out of the darkness;
the darkness couldn’t put it out.
The Life-Light was the real thing:
Every person entering Life
he brings into Light.
The Word became flesh and blood,
and moved into the neighborhood.
We saw the glory with our own eyes,
the one-of-a-kind glory,
like Father, like Son,
Generous inside and out,
true from start to finish.
