Advent longings on a dark night…

All is empty here,

and quiet,

darkness wraps

the house,

while with icy intent

the wind

breathes through

the branches

by my window…

I gaze into

the velvet

blue black sky,

searching, seeking,

but no stars

glint through the night,

and my question

is for now

unanswered…

How long?

how long,

how long

will you have

us wait?

Oh I know,

I am not prepared,

but I am hungry,

hungry

and thirsty

for your presence,

and oh so tired

of your absence.

My soul aches,

my spirit longs…

I need to

be led by you…

So tonight

I will light

a candle

in the darkness,

a symbol of hope

for a weary world.

Come Holy Spirit,

strengthen my heart

through this waiting time,

wash my soul clean,

heal me,

and make me whole.

Come shine through me

until my darkness is pushed back

and I walk in the

light

with you

again.

About Sally C

How do I describe myself, I am not what I do, (I am a Methodist Minister), I am not who I am related to (I have 5 wonderful children, 2 lovely granddaughters and 2 lovely grandsons). I am a seeker truth, a partaker of life in all it's fullness and a follower, sometimes stumbling, sometimes celebrating of the Christian pathway. I seek wholeness, joy and a connectedness to all things through a deep reconciliation with the God whose love blows my socks off! I love walking, swimming and photography, I dabble with paint and poetry...
